Forecourt house gives new life to a typical, single-fronted Victorian dwelling in Melbourne’s Clifton Hill.  Whilst celebrating and retaining the original facade and front two rooms of the house, a series of new spaces are created. A dialogue is created between the old and the new. Two central courtyards maximise natural light and ventilation to all rooms whilst providing an outlook to greenery. The extension is humble and contextually sensitive in its form – harmoniously existing within the streetscape. An additional loft, bathroom, study, kitchen and dining area open up to blur the boundary between the interior and exterior, making all spaces light, bright, airy and warm.

An honest material palette was adopted - recycled and locally sourced where possible. Spaces are light and bright with polished concrete floors, white painted strapped FC sheet, raw brass tapware, recycled timber floorboards, recycled grey ironbark decking boards and timber veneer joinery.
