Guide to Sustainable Materials

In our pursuit to realise architecture governed by humanity and functionality — by need rather than by desire — Breathe continuously strives to make the most sustainable material choices possible.

In this guide, we’re sharing our evolving material selection process, informed by experiences from past projects, in the hope it is useful to other architects, building professionals and aspiring home-owners.

Under Material Selection you’ll find a set of questions that helps guide the discussion for choosing materials. And under Material Specification we’re sharing practical advice on the different types of building materials, based on our research and work with suppliers.

(Please consider this an evolving document. We would love to hear from you and welcome feedback based on your expertise and experience from working with the various materials mentioned in this guide! Note that while every care has been taken to ensure that the information contained within this guide is correct, Breathe takes no responsibility for its accuracy.)
