When family is everything and pizza is a close second, the result is an elegant renovation in Northcote. Personalised for a family of four that enjoys nothing more than to share their love of food, cooking, and entertaining, pride of place is the figurative fireside created by the open kitchen and dining pergola, centred around the recycled red-brick pizza oven.

Fireside House is designed with a priority towards functionality, livability, and sustainability. Gas-free and powered by a mix of solar and 100% GreenPower, Fireside House is respectful of the surrounding heritage context with the existing home preserved and celebrated. The extension is an extrusion of the double gable form of the existing roof, extending outside to form the pergola and workshop. A vaulted ceiling brings light and volume to the new open kitchen, living, and dining spaces, symbolising warmth, safety, and congregation. Elegant custom joinery provides a home for much-loved family artefacts.

We acknowledge the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, the Traditional Custodians of the land upon which Fireside House stands. We recognise their continuing connection to land, waters, and culture.
